Ddz-protected amino acids
Properties and usage:
The Ddz-group is highly acid labile (1400 times more acid labile than Boc!) and can also be cleaved by UV (> 275 nm) in THF in a non-radical (!) mechanism without further addition of scavengers. It proves to be most useful when Fmoc-deprotection is incomplete during some steps of SPPS, but the use of a generally acid labile resin like Wang resin is a must.
